IP address classes
There are 5 classes of IP addresses
Class A IP Networks
Class A IP network range consist of IP
addresses in the range of
1.x.x.x to 126.x.x.x
So a class A network is defined by the 1st
octet of the IP address
This means that there are only 126 class A
networks and there can be about 16 million hosts in a class a
network.
Class B IP Network
Class B IP network is in the range of
128.x.x.x to 191.x.x.x.
A class B network is defined by the 1st
two octets of the IP address

B IP networks as compared to class A
e.g. 129.36.80.23 is a class B ip
address
Class C IP Network
Class C IP Network has the range
192.x.x.x to 223.x.x.x
A class B network is defined by the 1st
