I just noticed the a process named Plugin-Container.exe running on my laptop
I was immediately alerted as the name Plugin-Container seemed very unfamiliar and I thought that I might have got a virus.

Anyway, a bit of quick investigation revealed that this is nothing harmful Plugin-Container.exe is a process related to Firefox browser and is used by Firefox for managing video plug-in like Adobe FLASH and Quick Time, basically the plug-ins have been moved to a new process of their own so any problem or crash of the plug-in will not effect the main Firefox.exe process

It is a new released feature and is present in Firefox 3.6.4 which was just released on 22nd June. Now I must give myself a pat on back for the watchful eyes

All of the above vocal removal software’s are free, I tired each one of them and frankly, the results were disappointing, all of these almost completely failed to have any effect on the song vocals, all they did was to just slow down the mp3 volume.

I kept on trying different tools and finally had somewhat success with YoGen Vocal Remover. sadly, the YoGen tool is not free. However there is a trial option which lets you save audio clips up-to 1 min in length.

If you are trying to remove the vocals from a song, than I suggest that you try it with Audacity and if does not work than give YoGen a go.
Almost all of these tools will tone down the loudness of the song to a very low level. You might want to pass the output from software like MP3Gain to bring up the volume levels and mp3 Gain Adjustment

You can copy text easily in Windows using the Crtl+C or Ctrl+Insert key combination’s, but the above commands only work in certain text areas, but what if you want to copy text appearing in ‘Getting started’ Tab of Microsoft Word ? certainly you won’t be able to select the text , you can’t highlight it. the above mentioned commands won’t work here.

But hey wait, actually you can copy text from this place, or any place for that matter, let me tell you how
1) Install a OCR reorganization software , the one I used is ‘capture text’, It can be downloaded from capturetext.com , you get a free 21 days trial, so no worries

2) After installation its blue icon will appear in you windows task-bar, click on icon to start copying text, after clicking your mouse cursor will change to a cross hair

3) Move the cursor to the place/Window from where you want to copy text and select the area from which the text has be to copied

4) After the selection a menu with various options will pop-up

5) Select ‘Edit as Plain Text’ and you will get the text from selected area in a notepad editor

6) By using the same method you can even copy text from images, pdf or from any place from any software or program that does not have the copying facility

We all know that Gmail offers a free email forwarding service, i.e. you can define an email address in you Gmail account and Gmail will forward all incoming emails to that address. But are there any options other than Google Gmail ?

Today I tired to search for any free email forwarding service provider other than Gmail and the results were disappointing.

The only other free service that I could find was HotPoP.com, all others required paid subscriptions to avail the forwarding feature.

I knew that HotPoP has been around for many years so I decided to give them a try with a10 MB free account. The sign-up went smoothly, I was even able to set a forwarding address, than I sent a test mail to the HotPoP account to test forwarding … mail sent… waiting ..waiting …5 minutes, 10 minutes, 20 minutes … no email reached at the forwarded to address.

Giving HotPop the benefit of doubt that the email from HotPoP might have been blocked by spam filter, I changed the forwarded address but still … no email got delivered and now even after 5 hours, the situation is same.

Eventually, I had to give up this HotPoP experiment and instead signed-up with a new Gmail account to avail their free email forwarding service – which actually works.

Many of you would have noticed that at times when you open a packet capture containing RTP from voice calls than there are many RTP packets which are appearing as UDP, Wireshark was not able to detect the UDP payload as RTP

If you right click on any such packet and select ‘decode as’ RTP than wireshark correctly detects packets as RTP streams, however if you have like 100 undetected streams in a capture than it becomes a headache to manually do this step for every stream

The reason some streams get detected while some go undetected is because wireshark is by default setup to only detect RTP streams which were part of a ‘conversation’ i.e. a call-setup
So if you have the SIP setup messages for a call than its RTP packets will be also detected but if there were already some active calls for which you only mange to capture the RTP packets than such RTP streams won’t be detected

However, the great thing is that you can change this behavior
Go to Edit > Preferences > Protocols > RTP and select the check-box next to ‘Try to decode RTP outside of conversations’

Now, no matter what, all the RTP streams will be detected

Decode and Play G729 on Windows

Wireshark has a very nice feature that lets you play and listen to G711 streams present in a captured traffic dump file, unfortunately Wirehsark is not able to directly decode G729

However, you can still manage to play and listen to the G729 stream by using the following steps

1) Open the capture file using wireshark
2) Go to Telephony > RTP > Show all streams
3) That will open up a windows listing all detected RTP streams, click on any stream
And select analyze
4) On the next windows click on ‘Save Payload” let the format be as ‘raw’, lets name the file as ‘stream.raw’

So by now you have an output file named stream.raw , you will get an error if you try to play this file using any media player

You, will need to first convert this saved stream to PCM format, a free decoder is available at http://www.voiceage.com/openinit_g729.php

Download and unzip the decoder files on your PC in folder C:\g729de and than follow the below steps

1) Copy the saved stream file ‘stream.raw’ to C:\g729de
2) Open-up DOS command prompt and cd to C:\g729de
3) Issue the following command in the command prompt window

va_g729_decoder.exe stream.raw stream.pcm

So now you have the G729 converted to a PCM file named ‘stream.pcm’

But the .pcm file contains 16-bit linear PCM samples at 8000 Hz. in Little-Endian format. To convert to .au format, you need to appened the 24 byte au header, and convert each PCM sample to network byte order (or Big-Endian). The following Perl Script as present on Wikeshak wiki page will be used to do the conversion

And that’s it, now you have successfully decoded the G729 on your Windows Computer and can play the stream.au file using any player like Windows Media Player or VLC player

If you make frequent calls to other states and even other countries, you may wish to look into an Unlimited Long Distance plan. Some service packages are made for residential locations as well, and can even have a secondary package for home-based businesses. Others are corporate in nature and can reduce Unlimited Long Distance phone bills for businesses by 70 to 80 percent.

There are a few opportunities for businesses and companies that constantly call long distance every day of the week. For example, a phone company may charge a flat fee to telecommunications companies and any business that uses an auto dialing system as payment for Unlimited Long Distance calls. However, these plans are usually for high-volume, multiple-operator companies and not for individuals or individual offices that make a few Unlimited Long Distance calls a day.

In addition to Unlimited Long Distance calling plans, an individual may wish to get his hands on international calling cards. These typically give out minutes at an incredibly reduced rate
compared to other phone companies. They can be kept in the back pocket and used at any moment to call friends in Europe, or business partners in China.

Making Free Unlimited Long Distance Calls
Fortunately, a few calling card companies have taken it upon themselves to develop programs through which one can make Unlimited Long Distance calls for free. These programs offer free minutes on calling cards as reward points for becoming involved in a number of online opportunities. By becoming a part of online surveys, purchasing from discounted shopping sites, and referring friends to the program, more Unlimited Long Distance minutes can be tallied up, leaving an almost unlimited supply of chances to make Unlimited Long Distance calls.

Unlimited Long Distance Options
Unlimited Long Distance is an option for most phone service plans. It is most commonly used for land line telephones. Cell phone plans may offer free Unlimited Long Distance calls, but they will also charge you according to minutes you use each month.

Most residents do not need an Unlimited Long Distance plan unless they are making frequent long distance calls.
However, SMS preview app is not working on E-72 as per desgin and instead of making your life easier, it is making it worse

When the new SMS flashes on your screen, SMS preview just locks the screen and pushing any button does not make it good away, if your phone locked than you are even not able to unlock it and it gets really annoying

I hope the developers fix this problem in next update, most of the SMS are very short and there is no point in occupying the screen for long intervals of time!
