Sometimes certain applications require you to change the MTU size of your routers from the default value of 1500, as some services fail to execute properly due to the communication gap created by the unsupported MTU size
For your linksys WRT54G router you can easily change the MTU size, just login to the router at administration portal at http://192.168.1.1
Go to the Basic Setup tab present under the Main setup menu, under the router name and domain name is the filed where you can set the MTU size, by default it is set to 1500, select Manual from MTU menu and then define you customized MTU value in the text box below .
