Yes, you can transfer files over a remote desktop connection

For transferring or copying files 1st to need to share you local drive or partitions with the remote PC

Following are the steps that you need to follow

For Windows Vista

1) Open the remote desktop connection, this will open a window with the IP of remote computer along with connect button, there is also a options button there
2) Click on the options button to expand it
3) You will see text saying ‘Choose the devices and resources on this computer that want to use in your remote connection
4) In the area below there is check box for drives, below which all you hard drive partitions are listed
5) Now you select can any drives/partitions that you want and it will become available at the remote computer, after you connect to it
6) The drives that you selected here will be visible in the explorer of remote computer as a mapped network drive

For Windows XP
1) Open the remote desktop connection, this will open a window with the IP of the remote computer along with the connect button, there is also a options button there.
2) Click on the options button to expand it
3) Go to the tab of local resources and select the ‘Disk Drives’ option under local resources section

4) That’s it, now after connecting to the remote desktop computer your local hard drive will be also visible there and you will easily able to move, copy and transfer files between remote desktop connection and local computer
