If you use the built in snap feature of VLC player then the screenshot produced by it would be of the default size of the movie, even if you are watching the movie in full screen you would not be able to get a large screenshot

A workaround of this problem is to use the Windows print screen feature but for that to work you will 1st need to set the video output mode of VLC player to OpenGL. That can be set via Tools > Preferences > Video > Output . Remember to restart the VLC plater after making this change

Now you are all set to take the screenshot from VLC player, just hit on the printscreen button and paste the screen capture from your clipboard to your favourite image editing software
